Get Out, Get Moving!

Healthy Steps
The Metro District and the Highlands Ranch Community Association have created the Healthy Steps program to get you on the trail to a more active lifestyle. Register now and you will receive a pedometer, log book, walking suggestions, and a Highlands Ranch Outdoor Guide that shows all of the great trails and parks where you can get your steps. You'll also be able to connect with other walkers through our optional walking partner list, posted on our Web site. And finally, you'll get a $10 discount coupon good for any Metro District's recreation program, discounts at local walking and running stores and a discount for a walking session with HRCA fitness staff. Volunteer Programs


Trash for Treasures
Trash for Treasures offers the opportunity for groups or organizations to plan their own treasure hunt and help keep our special places clean. The Metro District staff will provide a brief training for your group, trash bags and hidden treasures for your volunteers to discover during the cleanup. During a break, refreshments and a short talk on environmental stewardship will also be provided. You can pick the day and choose the area you'd like to help make clean. A minimum of two weeks is required to schedule your group. For more information or to schedule your group for a Trash for Treasures adventure, please call 303-791-2710.


Plant Pals
Plant Pals offers an opportunity for groups or organizations to adopt and care for their own flower or shrub bed for an entire season May through September, and to help keep our parks clean. Metro District's staff will provide training, plant identification and trash bags for cleanup. Recognition and rewards will be provided at the end of the season. Volunteers can pick the park they would like to adopt and the days they would like to care for the beds. For more information, please call 303-791-2710.


Park Hosts
Get involved in your community and become a Park Host. The Park Host program began in 1999. and offers the opportunity to volunteer as an ambassador in our Highlands Ranch parks and along our trails. During your walking or biking tours, you will have the chance to interact with many park and trail users and serve as the eyes & ears for the Metro District Park Rangers.

Youth & Adult Outdoor Education Programs
