The Metro District of Highlands Ranch is accepting applications for the following position(s):

TEMPORARY PARK TECHNICIANS

 Highlands Ranch Metro District is seeking motivated individuals to fill our long-term temporary Park Technician positions!  Qualified applicants are needed to work from May through December.  Successful candidates must be quality minded and have a strong desire to work in a great team environment.

Our temporary Park Technician positions are available from mid-March through December.  Temporary employment period ranges from twelve weeks to forty weeks.  These positions listed below will work a forty (40) hour work week through the month of December.  These positions may include some weekend and holidays.

The following long-term temporary Park Technician positions are now available:

Park Technician – FACILITIES
This position is responsible for the maintenance, repairs, renovations and inspections of buildings, parks, playgrounds and skate parks.   Will assist with the installation and removal of holiday lights at all entrances to Highlands Ranch; help with the set-up and break-down of community events.

Park Technician – PARK SERVICES
This position is responsible for cleaning and upkeep of park shelters and facilities.  Duties also include contact and interaction with park visitors.  Will assist with set-up and break-down of community events.

Park Technician – SPORTS FIELDS
This position is responsible for the preparation and layout of the sports fields for our Recreational Sports programs. 

Park Technician – PARK MAINTENANCE (Cultural Practices)
Cultural Practices involves aeration, fertilization, top dressing and seeding applications. 

Park Technician – PARK MAINTENANCE (Mow Crew)
This position involves mowing, trimming, edging and equipment maintenance.

You must be at least eighteen (18) years old, have a valid Colorado driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.   Pre-employment drug screening and background check will be conducted.  Salary range is $8.00 to $13.00 per hour depending upon experience.

TEMPORARY PARKS, OPEN SPACE AND RECREATION POSITIONS

Highlands Ranch Metro District is looking for qualified applicants to fill our temporary Parks, Open Space and Recreation positions.  Successful applicants must be self-motivated; quality minded and have a desire to provide exceptional service to our community.

There are over 40 temporary positions available from mid-March through December.   Temporary employment period ranges from twelve weeks to forty weeks.  These positions work a 40 hour work week and may include weekends and holidays.  Employment period may be extended if funding remains available. 

Primary duties of our temporary Park Technician positions include parks, parkways, sports fields and open space maintenance, including janitorial service for our facilities and trails.  Responsibilities vary and will depend upon position.  See following page for a description of Park Technician job duties.

Primary duties of our temporary Recreation Supervisors will include supervising and evaluating umpires, umpiring if necessary, some field preparation, act as a liaison between team managers and players, and supervising games.  Applicants must comprehend and be able to apply the rules and have the ability to umpire games.  Excellent communication and conflict management skills are required.  See following pages for a description of Recreation Supervisor job duties.

 Forestry:  Involves plantings, fertilizations and general care of trees.

Facilities

Facilities Involves maintenance, repairs and inspections of buildings, parks, playgrounds and skate parks.

Open Space

Park Ranger:  Involves visitor contact, rules compliance and outdoor education.

Open Space:  Includes resource management, reclamation, weed management and trail maintenance.

Recreation Services

Adult Sport Supervisor:  Involves supervision of leagues, some officiating and field preparation.

Youth Sport Supervisor:  Involves supervision of games and coaches, team assignments and field scheduling.
