DIRECTOR OF PARKS, RECREATION, AND OPEN SPACE
Highlands
Ranch Metro District is seeking a dynamic and innovative individual for its
Director of Parks, Recreation, and Open Space.
The Metro District is a full-service metropolitan district serving the
community of Highlands Ranch, with a population of more than 92,000 residents.
The Metro District owns and maintains an impressive network of outdoor
recreation amenities. With 24 parks,
more than 70 miles of trails, and 2,200 acres of natural open space, Highlands
Ranch is home to an active community and a diverse wildlife population.
This position requires complex supervisory, administrative and professional work
in planning, organizing and directing the divisions within the Parks,
Recreation, and Open Space Department.
The Director is responsible for an annual budget of $8.6 million with
services including the planning and management of parks, parkways along major
roads, multi-use trail system, community forestry, recreation programs, open
space management, park rangers, and associated support services. The Director
also represents the Metro District in local, regional and state interactions
regarding parks, open space and recreation issues.
Successful applicant must have graduated from a four-year college or university
with a degree in parks, recreation, landscape architecture or a closely related
field. Additionally, a minimum of
eight years of progressively responsible experience in the parks, recreation,
and open space field is required. Strong writing and presentation skills are a

combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.

TEMPORARY PARKS,

POSITIONS
Highlands
Ranch Metro District is looking for qualified applicants to fill our temporary
Parks, Open Space, and Recreation positions.
Successful applicants must be self-motivated,
quality minded, and have a desire to provide exceptional service to our
community.
There
are over 40 temporary positions available from mid-March through December.
Temporary employment period ranges from twelve
weeks to forty weeks.
These positions work a forty (40) hour work week
and may include weekends and holidays.
Employment period may be extended if funding
remains available.
Primary duties of our temporary
Park Technician positions include parks, parkways, sports fields
and open space maintenance, including janitorial service for our facilities and
trails. Responsibilities
vary and will depend upon position.

Batting
Cage Attendant
Highlands Ranch Metro
District Parks, Recreation & Open Space is accepting applications for a
part-time temporary Batting Cage Attendant.
This position will provide supervision and management of the batting
cages at Redstone Park and assist the Recreation Supervisor in the
administration and smooth operation of the facility.
The Batting Cage Attendant will be responsible for but not limited to;
collecting admissions, customer relations, maintaining the equipment in proper
working order, writing basic reports, answering phone calls, selling
concessions, general cleaning, monitoring activity and reporting any problems,
and complying with all appropriate district policies and procedures.
Applicant must be at least
18 years of age and be willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
This is a temporary part-time position working from 6 - 40 hours per
week, March – October.
Successful candidate must
have experience working with the public, the ability to perform mathematical
calculations involving money, customer service, and general knowledge of
operating equipment and computers.

management skills and have the ability to work independently.

Adult
Softball Field Supervisor
Highlands Ranch Metro
Districts Parks, Recreation & Open Space is accepting applications for a
part-time temporary Adult Softball Field Supervisor.
This position will provide supervision of the adult softball leagues and
assist the Recreation Coordinator in the administration and smooth operation of
leagues.
Duties include:
supervising umpires, players, spectators; umpiring, evaluating umpires, some
field prep, and liaison with team managers and players, 5-35 hours per week,
March – October. Leagues are offered
Sunday through Friday evenings.
Varied shifts include evening hours.
Qualifications:
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
Candidate must know and be able to apply the rules of adult softball,
must have excellent people, communication, and conflict management skills and
have the ability and knowledge to umpire.
