As of Monday, Dec. 15, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office has enacted Stage 1 Fire Restrictions for all areas of Douglas County due to heightened fire danger conditions. These restrictions are implemented to reduce the risk of wildfires and ensure public safety throughout the county.
Use of charcoal grills in our Metro District parks is allowed under Stage 1 restrictions, but we ask users to be conscientious and safe.
Under Stage 1 restrictions:
Not allowed:
- No open burning of any kind.
- No use of fireworks.
- No use of model rockets.
Allowed:
- Fires within liquid-fueled or gas-fueled stoves
- Fireplaces within buildings
- Charcoal grill fires within developed residential or commercial areas
- Wood-burning stoves within buildings
- Professional fireworks displays in compliance with Section 12-28-103 of the Colorado Revised Statutes
- Fire suppression or fire department training fires
- Small recreational fires in fixed, permanent metal/steel fire pits located at developed picnic or campground sites (Note: Rock fire rings are considered temporary and not permitted)
- Residential use of:
- Charcoal grills
- Tiki torches
- Chimineas
- Portable fireplaces or patio fire pits, provided they are:
- Supervised by a responsible person 18 years or older
- Maintained in a safe and controlled manner
