The Metro District is proposing the construction of a new 2-acre park. The proposed park would be on the north side of Plaza Drive, just to the northeast of Fly'n B Park and adjacent to the High Line Canal. (Link to map location.)

 

The goal is to provide a passive-use, public space for visitors to enjoy the outdoors, relaxation, wellness and gathering with others. It would also provide space to expand the Metro District's popular community garden program, which consistently has more demand for garden plots than can be accommodated currently.

Our partners at Shea Properties would donate the land for this endeavor and would manage the construction of the park while they build affordable senior housing in the adjacent land parcel to the east. Funding for the park would come from existing general fund balance and is not projected to increase taxes.
