In true Colorado fashion, winter has thrown us a curve ball in early May.
Due to the forecasted winter storm, we have rescheduled the Toepfer Park 2.0 Celebration originally planned for Wednesday. The event has been rescheduled to Monday, June 1, 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Toepfer Park, 9320 Venneford Ranch Road.
Join the Metro District to celebrate the recent park improvements, including a new playground, nature trail, expanded parking lot and more. Enjoy giveaways, a scavenger hunt and mingling with friends and neighbors. Kona Ice will be on site with treats for purchase. A ribbon cutting will be at 5:15 p.m. at the playground.
Our partners at the Douglas County Sheriff's Office and Highlands Ranch Water will also be on site with giveaways and information.
Originally dedicated in 1996, the park was named after Jim Toepfer, one of the founders of Highlands Ranch. In 2022, an additional 10 acres of land adjacent to the park was conveyed to the Metro District from the Douglas County Board of Commissioners, in partnership with the Douglas County School District.
Construction on the improvements began in May 2025. The new playground opened to the public in October 2025.
