Do you offer transportation to the center?
Highlands Ranch does not operate a paratransit system. If you need assistance travelling to the center, contact Link on Demand, a new microtransit service in Highlands Ranch, Aging Resources of Douglas County, 303-814-4300, or use Lyft, Uber or other ridesharing options.
What do I do when I arrive?
You will scan your key tag at the front reception desk and check in to any activity for which you have registered. On your first visit, you can also pick up your nametag to put in the lanyard you received when you registered for your annual membership.
Can I enter the senior center from the west side of the building?
No, that entrance is for visitors to the Douglas County Department of Human Services. To enter the senior center you must come in from the east (main) entrance.
I haven't paid for my annual membership and I don't have a key tag. What should I do?
You can purchase your membership at the front desk and pick up your key tag on your first visit. The annual membership is $60 for Highlands Ranch residents and $72 for nonresidents and we accept cash, check or credit card.
I am not sure I want to purchase a membership yet. Can I still come to the center?
Yes, you can still visit the center by purchasing a day pass. Day passes are $2.50 for Highlands Ranch residents and $3 for nonresidents. There are also monthly memberships if you only want a short term pass. Tours are available for anyone who wants to see the center before deciding on a membership.
What can I do at the center?
Members are always welcome to come in and see what is going on, grab a cup of coffee or tea, relax by the fire and socialize with others. There are many programs to enroll in; just scroll through all the offerings at highlandsranch.org/myactivecenter and you will be sure to find something that interests you. If you want to volunteer, talk to Lyndsey George, guest services and volunteer coordinator, about opportunities to serve the center in a wide range of ways. If you have an idea for a club or interest group, share that with staff so they can advertise the idea to others. You can do as much or as little as you want at the center. If something isn't offered that you want, please mention your idea to staff.
Can we bring in food?
You can bring in food for your own personal consumption. Anything you want to share, however, has to be purchased from a store and remain in its original packaging. For health and safety reasons, anything not purchased at a store must be prepared and cooked at the senior center.
How do I get on the waitlist for a class that is full?
To be added to the waitlist for a full class, please contact staff at the senior center. You can email Katie Ireland at kireland@highlandsranch.org or use our general email at seniorcenterinfo@highlandsranch.org. Waitlist requests must be made by phone or email at this time.
How do I cancel a class?
To cancel a class and receive a refund (as long as you're outside the 5-day cancellation window), please contact Katie Ireland directly at kireland@highlandsranch.org. Even if you're within the 5-day window and not eligible for a refund, please still email Katie so we can offer your spot to someone on the waitlist.
